Our History

BiotechNews was founded in 2000 by Ferdinand Oldemaat as a print magazine dedicated to developments in the Dutch biotechnology sector. Over the years, it evolved into a trusted publication covering the broader Life Sciences & Health ecosystem, featuring industry news, company updates, expert insights and sector analysis. In 2024 Hyphen Projects became the new publisher of this magazine.

After more than two decades as a well-known print publication, in Spring 2026 BiotechNews has been launched as a online news platform — expanding its reach while maintaining the sector focus that have defined it from the start.

Magazine

BiotechNews publishes twice a year as a printed magazine (6,000 copies) which is send to about four thousand subscribers, and in addition distributed at the events organised by Hyphen Projects, such as: Innovation for Health, BCF Career Event and the FIGON - Dutch Medicines Days. The Spring edition traditionally comes out in May and the fall edition in November. Here are the deadlines for the upcoming editions:
